Summer Application

This application contains fertilizer along with an insecticide (Grub Control). Everything does is weather sensitive not time sensitive. Meaning, you will receive this application as ground temperatures rise. This application for the Greater Kansas City area will be delivered around mid to late June. Consider your personal Golf Course Superintendent for your lawn.

Our turf fertilizer with Merit contains the widely popular and effective systemic insecticide imidacloprid. The low use rate of Merit provides excellent control on grubs and grub species while maintaining a low risk to non-target pests. Merit can be applied on all types of turf grasses—including golf courses. Once applied, the chemical is readily taken up by turf roots and distributed throughout the plant. When turf-feeding insects consume the roots of these plants, the chemical attacks the central nervous system of the chewing insect causing paralysis and death.

What are Grubs? Lawn grubs, often called white grubs, are the immature form of different scarab beetles, such as Japanese beetles, June “bugs” (beetles) or the European chafers. These white, C-shaped creatures have soft bodies with legs near the head. They feed on grass roots (and organic matter in the soil), causing sections of grass in the lawn to die. Grubs eventually turn into adult beetles and emerge from soil to mate and lay eggs, which hatch into more grubs. – Read more at Bayer Advanced
